My husband loves hats. A lot. A few years ago during one of our routine trips to Boston we discovered the Goorin Hat Bros. store on Newbury Street. During this visit he tried on many hats and together we left having purchased one each, to be worn during our engagement photo session (you can actually view some of our pictures on their Facebook page, Goorin Love!).
Every visit to Boston that we’ve made since (which is many, considering it’s near our home and one of our favorite places to escape and get away), Robert has purchased a hat. Our most recent adventure brought us to Boston to enjoy an evening with the Boston Pops for their Holiday performance. And before the performance, you guessed it–he bought a new hat and just a few days later he requested a scarf to match.
As a newer knitter (meaning my skills are, well, still developing), we searched Pinterest together to find a pattern to his liking that I knew with modest confidence I could achieve. Thankfully, we located a very masculine pattern meeting his approval. A simple, yet handsome repetition of knit and purl repeat–not quite a basket stitch but yet not all that far off.
While there’s still some time to go before he’ll be able to bundle himself up in hat AND scarf, the progress I’ve made is promising. To view the scarf in its current state, head on over to my On the Needles – Scarves & Wraps page and look for “Robert’s Scarf”.
