Flower Power

Hanging Basket Close-upToday was one of those days that makes living in a region of the country that experiences all four seasons totally worth it.  Sunshine, a light breeze and warm temperatures.  I wanted nothing to do but soak it all in.  And that I did, in my garden. I love knitting (sorry, that probably seems pretty obvious given that I have a blog about it) but more than knitting, I love doing.  I’m most happy when my hands are busy and my mind is actively engaged. Gardening, much like knitting, is fulfilling.

Pink Fringed Gerber DaisyMy husband and I have lived in our home for almost one year and I’m excited to report that everything I planted with my mother last year has returned (amen, perennials, amen)! I made some new additions today–five plants to be exact.  They’ll nicely compliment what is already growing and give me color throughout the entire summer into fall.  In many ways, flowers are the yarn of my yard–I plant them just as I would knit–with purpose and intention.
